CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

A.  Book purposes
The aim of this book is to introduce education philosophy based on Islamic view. The book was compiled from the materials that the author used while teaching in some universities. This book is intended to prepare students of education faculties of UIN or IAIN for better education.

B.  Thesis about the book
It is suitable for the students of education faculty because in this book the author described education not only in religious view but also in other aspects. Thus, it will help the students as a candidate of a teacher understand about education well.

CHAPTER II
SUMMARY OF THE CONTENT

A. Introduction
Differences of education philosophy and science theory
The theory of education philosophy and science is not the same at all. The education philosophy theory can only be accepted rationally but not empirically, whereas the education science theory is not only can be accepted rationally but also can be proven empirically.

       Knowledge                                 Paradigm           Object           Method                 Criterion
SCIENCE           Science (scientific)            Empirical          Science (scientific)           Rational-empirical
     PHILOSOPHY         Rational         Abstract-rational        Rational    Rational

B.human essence
The essentials of a human being need to be discussed because what we do in education is for the human beings themselves. In this chapter there are three topics talking about human essence: essentials of a human according to some experts and God and the last is human essence, as the aims of the education.

               Human’s View of Human Essence
Plato, a pupil of Socrates, stated that human beings had three elements: soul, desire, and rationality.
Rene Descartes (1596-1650), a French philosopher, considered a brain (rationality) the essential of human beings. Descartes believed that human beings had emotion, a combination of love, joy, desire, rage, sorrow, and wonder.
John Locke (1623-17040), an English philosopher and physician, postulated that the mind was a blank state or tabula rasa, a theory that individuals are born without built-in mental content and that their knowledge comes from experience and perception. This theory believes that education influences someone so much.
Immanuel Kant (1724-1804), a German philosopher, stated “it always remains a scandal of philosophy and universal human reason that the existence of things outside us should have to be assumed merely on faith, and that if it occurs to anyone to doubt it, we should be unable to answer him with a satisfactory proof.” One of his contributions to education is his statement that human beings are rational. It means that human beings act based on morality; they do something not only for the sake of their life but also for others. Indeed, when human beings perform something they must have reasons.

               God’s View of Human Essence
The best explanation about the essentials of human beings is of course based on the view of the God, who creates the human beings. In Al Quran, it is said that a human being is created with the combination of body, brain to think, and soul managed by ‘Iman’ in a heart.

              What have we known?
Some of the western experts have the same opinion of Islamic view related to the core of human essence. The experts stated that the core of the human essence is emotion or spirit; it is not different from Islamic view that say ‘iman’ in a heart is the center of human essence.

C. Education Essence
Definition of education
Education is a process by which society transfer knowledge, skills, customs, and values from one generation to another. Education is hoped to be able to create people who are needed for better society.
Education: unfinished agenda
Education is considered an unfinished agenda because of some reasons: the first is that everyone wants to be better. By education, he or she will be able to have a good opportunity to be a better person. Next, the theory in education is impossible to be used in all places in the world. Time always changes; it means the theory also has to be revised. The last is because of different condition and situation. A certain theory could be applied successfully in a new place, yet there is no any guarantee that the theory will also be successful to another place.
Rationalism as education fundamental
Rationalism is a practice of treating reason as the basis of belief and knowledge. Greek people 600 years BC tried to use their brain as the only basis of knowledge. They believed that there was no any absolute knowledge. Luckily, Socrates, supported by Plato and Aristotle, proved that there was not only relative truth but also absolute truth, which could be got in religion.
Improving basis as the values
One of the duties of education is to teach values. In teaching values, the teacher should know      the values, which will be shared to the pupils. InIndonesia, the values are based on the five points of Pancasila. Pancasila is the basis of culture of Indonesia.
National ideology as the basis of education
The five points in Pancasila, the philosophy of Indonesia, is too general. The points are explained more detailed in constitution (UU). In creating the basis of education, the people of Indonesia must be based on the values written in Pancasila.

D. Aims of Education
Best human beings as the education goal
Everyone wants to be better. One of the ways to have that wish is trough education. Education is hoped to be able to create good human beings. However, no one knows exactly the true characteristics of a good human. Quality of a good human is based on the people’s way of life. Different religion means different way of life. To cope this a country must have its own ideology to be used in describing the quality of a good human.
Characteristics of hoped outcomes
The author presented some characteristics of qualified outcomes. The outcomes must:
1.      Have high disciplined,
2.      Be honest,
3.      Be creative,
4.      High motivation to develop,
5.      Not give up easily,
6.      Have good self confidence,
7.      Be cooperative,
8.      Be democratic,
9.      Be able to use the time wisely,
10.  Have high Emotional Quotient (EQ)

Competency based-education
Every level of schools has its own standard competence. Competency based education curriculum (KBK) should focus on the following concepts.
1.      The aims of every lesson should be based on the general aims of the school.
2.      KBK will not be needed anymore if the education runs well.
3.      Competency means skills. The necessary skills are skills that we can use in life.

Competency mastery
The outcomes are hoped to be able to master the skills that they have in a educational institution. They should be able to use the skills in the real life. They must be able to live cooperatively with the people around him.

Civil society
There are three important factors in creating civil society:
1.      Humanity laws are needed,
2.    People are willing to obey the laws,
3.      The leader must take care of the laws honestly.

E. Education Curriculum
Definition of curriculum
Curriculum could have three meanings:
1.      Curriculum is the list of lessons in a educational institution.
2.      Curriculum means syllabus.
3.      Curriculum is the school program.
Islamic knowledge framework
All knowledge is from God. There are three kinds of knowledge: science, philosophy, and mystic knowledge.
Knowledge    Paradigm    Object    Method    Criterion
SCIENCE    Science (scientific)    Empirical    Science (scientific)    Rational-empirical
PHILOSOPHY    Rational    Abstract-rational    Rational    Rational
MYSTICISM    Supernatural    Abstract-supernatural    Exercise, belief    Belief, sometimes empirical

Ethics as a lesson at school
Education of ethics could be taught trough religion subject. Ethics should be based on the religious view.
Soul education is the core of curriculum
As the explanation of the previous chapter, the true essence of human beings is the soul. Therefore, the curriculum must focus on the soul education if we want to create the real human beings.

F.  Pupils
Pupils
Pupils or students are the ones who will be taught. There are some obligations for the pupils:
1.      The students must focus on their soul development most than other aspects.
2.      The students must decrease their excitement of life in the world, yet they must be able to focus also on life in hereafter.
3.      The students learn sincerely from their teachers. They must respect their teacher.
4.      The students should be able to be open with the difference opinion.
5.      The students have to identify the most important lessons to know or the levels.

G. Educational Institutions
“Madrasah”, religion based curriculum, is a school that try to balance the religious subject and the general subject. It is believed that the students who are very keen at general subjects are not the hoped outcomes, yet the real outcomes are the students who have balanced knowledge, between religious subject and general subject. As the proof is that, corruption has been a chronic problem in Indonesia. The corruptors are of course smart people, but they are not religious people. UIN or IAIN can be said as a university that tries to balance between religious subjects and general subjects.

H. Process of Education
The process of education should teach the students how to be a religious or obedient person rather than just give them much information about their religion. For a Muslim we can say education must make the students act as a Muslim instead of having much information only about Islam. In other words, the students not only know the knowledge but also they can do or apply the knowledge. The most important thing is how they can be the person based on the knowledge that they get.

I. Education Development
One aspect that we should focus on developing education is curriculum. The curriculum is the main point if we want to make education better. That is why the experts of education must understand well about the curriculum. There are three important aspects in revising a curriculum:
1.      Islamic education as one of the lessons at school
2.      Local culture and job vacancy
3.      Nation, language, history, culture of nation, Indonesian geography, science, and art
4.      English, culture of the world, and competition among the countries.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

Strength:
1.    This book is easy to understand.
2.    The author tried to present some ideas from some experts first before he expressed his own ideas.
3.    The author did not take Islamic ideas merely but also from non-Muslim experts.
4.    Despite the purpose of the book for the students of education faculty of UIN or IAIN, the book is also good to read by everyone.
5.    It has many references.
6.    The biography of the writer is given.
7.    It has many small chapters to emphasize the points.

Weaknesses:
1.    The book is not arranged systematically.
2.    Some uncommon words are not explained well by the author.

CHAPTER III
                    Conclusion and Suggestions
Up here alone I told him about our knowledge this report may be useful to the reader, and if there are mistakes or errors in the report that I gave we apologize profusely. constructive suggestions for improvement so we expect in the next activity.

Global Warming by MUHLISIN (a Student of STIE Semarang= at ask for English lesson)

Global Warming

Global warming is one of the most serious challenges facing us today. To protect the health and economic well-being of current and future generations, we must reduce our emissions of heat-trapping gases by using the technology, know-how, and practical solutions already at our disposal.

Tropical deforestation is the largest source of emissions for many developing countries, but slowing deforestation can't solve the climate problem by itself. As forest-rich developing countries step up to take responsibility for reducing their emissions, all industrialized nations should not only support their efforts but, most importantly, reduce their own emissions and lead efforts to avert dangerous climate change.

For years we have heard so much about the causes of climate change, that we’ve missed the fact that there are simple, practical solutions that can slow this growing problem. Technologies exist today that can cut emissions of heat-trapping gases and make a real difference in the health of our planet. And these solutions will be good for our economy, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and enhance our energy security.

Global warming doesn’t just mean balmy February days in northern climes. It also means increasingly hot days in the summer, and a host of negative impacts that are already under way and are expected to intensify in the
coming decades.

-More heat waves will likely increase the risk of heat-related illnesses and deaths.

-Cities and towns along the nation's major rivers will experience more severe and frequent flooding.

-Some areas will likely experience more extensive and prolonged droughts.

-Some of our favorite coastal and low-lying vacation areas, such as parts of the Florida Keys and Cape Cod, will be much less appealing as sea levels rise, dunes erode, and the areas become more vulnerable to coastal storms.

-Many families and businesses, who have made their living from fishing, farming, and tourism could lose their livelihoods, and others who love hunting, boating, skiing, birdwatching, and just relaxing near lakes, streams, and wetlands will see some of their favorite places irretrievably changed.

The solutions to climate change are here and it's time we put them to use. If we get started today we can tackle this problem and decrease the unpleasant outcomes that await us if we do nothing. The steps we need to take are common sense. And, more often than not, they will save consumers money. The cost of inaction, however, is unacceptably high.

The scientific consensus is in. Our planet is warming, and we are helping make it happen by adding more heat-trapping gases, primarily carbon dioxide (CO2), to the atmosphere. The burning of fossil fuel (oil, coal, and natural gas) alone accounts for about 75 percent of annual CO2 emissions from human activities. Deforestation—the cutting and burning of forests that trap and store carbon—accounts for about another 20 percent.

Procrastination is not an option. Scientists agree that if we wait 10, 20, or 50 years, the problem will be much more difficult to address and the consequences for us will be that much more serious.

We're treating our atmosphere like we once did our rivers. We used to dump waste thoughtlessly into our waterways, believing that they were infinite in their capacity to hold rubbish. But when entire fisheries were poisoned and rivers began to catch fire, we realized what a horrible mistake that was.

Our atmosphere has limits too. CO2 remains in the atmosphere for about 100 years. The longer we keep polluting, the longer it will take to recover and the more irreversible damage will be done.

Fuel-efficient vehicles. Renewable energy. Protecting threatened forests. These common sense solutions won't only reduce global warming, many will save us money and create new business opportunities.

Best of all, these solutions exist now. We just need to insist that business and government take the necessary steps to make them available and affordable. Then we have to let consumers know what to do and provide incentives to help all of us make better choices.

The following five sensible steps are available today and can have an enormous impact on the problem CO2 remains in the atmosphere for about 100 years.

Good morning all …

The honorable the judges, the honorable my teachers, the honorable my seniors
and my beloved friends . We must give thanks to our god, because of god’s
blessing we can stand here until today . First of all , I would like to introduce
my self. My name is Ulil.
My beloved teachers and friends ,
Today I will deliver a speech about smoking entitled “Smoking is a bad habit in
our lives”.
My friends,

As we know smoking is one part of the daily activities of the majority of
Indonesian society. most smokers know the dangers of smoking but they never
tried to stop smoking. Because that, we as the younger generation must be
convinced that smoking is bad habits in life. Smoking is a bad habit because of
three factors, among others:
1. Contain poison substances
2. causing diseases such as cancer.
3. expensive.
The honorable my teacher and friends,
The first factor of smoking is bad habit is contain poison substance. we should
not consume cigarettes because it is not good for health. I’m sure you know
there are many substances in cigarette smoke is dangerous. For the example,
nicotine substance.. That substance is very dangerous and can cause various
diseases. not only dangerous for smoker, it is also dangerous for us if we near
the smoker. so if there is a smoker near you. Say to him or her for stubbed
him/ her cigarette for a moment with good polite.

My friend,
Next, I will talk about the second factor. That is, smoking cause various
diseases like cancer, disorders of pregnancy, fetal disorders, and etc. One of
the factor of many Indonesian people who died were smoking. The majority is a
student!! Many students who died because of smoking and drugs. It was very
disappointed.! one of the young generation died with the wrong way. !
smoking habit also produces behavioral effects that are bad for the smokers.
And so many the negative effect of smoking.

My beloved teacher and friends ,
Last, cigarette is expensive. Did you know?? Cigaratte price is 7-10 thousand
rupiah or more than it for one pack. Can you imagine a student or a smoker
spent his money to buy a pack of cigarettes every day and calculated every
week, every month and every year.? If one day for buy a pack of cigarette is 8
thousands , So in one week he spent 56 thousands, in amonth he spent
240thousands and in year he spent 2.880.000 . it just one pack for a day. If 2
,3, or 4 packs a day??? How many?? So many money , for smoking. This is cause a
family got economic crisis and a student can not use his pocket money for
school.
Smoking is not positive activity for us, young generation. So
guys. From now, let we say “ Go Studying Stop Smoking!” . And be the best
student for our country and school. I think that’s all, thank you for your
attention.

DRUGS by Ngapiyah (a Student of STIE Semarang- a task for English Lesson)

Assalamu Wr Wb
Respected principal ... I respect Mr / Mrs Teachers and Administrative staff and friends who I love Thank you for the time that was given to me to deliver the Speech About Drugs is.
Download Sample Speech Drugs

First of all let us praise gratitude to Allah SWT has bestowed His blessings so that we can gather here and today I will give a speech about drugs.

The number of drug users in Indonesia at a time are getting so big, it may be due to the lack of law enforcement in Indonesia so that international dealers to cooperate with Indonesian citizens and earn huge profits. Drug abuse and other addictive substances, of course, brings a broad and complex effects. As one example of the effects include behavioral changes, health problems, decreased work productivity drastically, crime and other acts of violence are rampant and increasing.

Drug abuse can be prevented through programs such as attend social activities, do not associate with drug users or dealers, not easily influenced solicitation or seduction to use drugs. Drug users are usually dominated by the youth and school children.

'Speech for celebrating graduation' by Juniar Ajeng Pratitis -a student of STIE SEMARANG- a taask for English Lesson

Assalamu Wr. Wb
Peace for us all.

First I thank you and give thanks to Almighty God for His presence and blessing rahmayNya we can all come together in perfect health without any at least one occasion Mr Budi  has entered a period of full duty.

After so many years together with Mr Budi we live our joys and sorrows with us, then finally arrived at where we should let Mr. Budi for retirement. I personally as a boss Mr Budi say a big thank you for all the remarkable performance, loyalty to be proud of and dedication to the company. Many things have Mr. Budi given to this company so it was a thank you is not enough for what you have received .

In spite of reports of accountability and delegation of duties unto the new officers, I personally believe that Mr. Budi had spread all the knowledge, skill, and experience to subordinates father in the marketing department where Mr. duty. I hope that, whoever will replace Mr later has the performance, loyalty, and dedication that is not inferior to Mr. Budi so what has worked well for Mr. tenure at these companies will still be able to walk well in the future.

It seems there will be no end when I talk about all the services and dedication of Mr. Budi for this company. However, one thing that should be underlined is a role model of leadership that has Mr. Budi show for it hopefully can be an example for all of us who are still exist in this company. I as a representative of the company say a big thank you for everything you've done for the company Mr Budi and apologize if ever there is difference of opinion among us all. We hope Mr. Budi could live full time job quietly and happily in line with what Mr Budi had to tell me.

Heroes’ Day. by Riyanah (a student of STIE SEMARANG- a task for English Lesson )

Assalamu’alaikum Wr.Wb.

The honorable juries, teachers, committees and all the participants. It is a great honor for me to join this English speech contest.

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

In the name of Allah, the most Merciful and the most Gracious

All praises be to Allah SWT, the lord of the world, the master of the day after, the creator of everything in this universe.

Peace and Salutation be upon our prophet Muhammad SAW, who has brought us from the darkness into the brightness and guided us into the right way of life.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In this good opportunity, I would like to deliver a speech entitled “Heroes’ Day”.

This speech aims at reminding us that the heroism, patriotism and nationalism are very important in developing our country. Without those attitudes, it is impossible for us to make our country survive.

Brothers and Sisters;

Every year we commemorate Heroes’ Day on 10th November. It is the reflection of our country in appreciating the history of Indonesian people in struggling against the colonialism. Heroes’ Day also shows that our founding fathers had sacrificed everything to build this country.

Heroes’ Day was taken from the history of the battle in Surabaya. It was a fighting of our people against Dutch and Allied forces due to the struggle of the Indonesian Independence. The peak of the battle was in November 1945. Allied Forces’ troops managed to conquer Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia, on behalf of Dutch. More than 100,000 people of Indonesia were involved on the battle against the Allied Forces that approximated more than 30,000 soldiers. At least 16.000 Indonesian people died, while the enemies lost 2,000 soldiers. The battle was the heaviest single battle of the revolution and became a national symbol of Indonesian resistance. Considered a heroic effort by Indonesians, the battle helped our people get international support for Indonesian independence. In memory of the battle, 10th November is then celebrated annually as Heroes’ Day.

Ladies and Gentlemen;

The battle in Surabaya was one of the battles happening in our country during the situation of the Indonesian independence. Other people from all over Indonesia’s territory also did the similar thing. Our people fought against the colonialist to keep our independence. Our people struggled to build a free country. They sacrificed everything, including their blood and lives. They had dedicated their heroism, patriotism and nationalism for this country.

There is a quote: a great country is a country which appreciates all its heroes. We often hear about it. We know that without our heroes’ sacrifices, there would be no this country. The independence of Indonesia was not given by the colonialist. It was struggled by our founding fathers, by our heroes
