Global Warming

Global warming is one of the most serious challenges facing us today. To protect the health and economic well-being of current and future generations, we must reduce our emissions of heat-trapping gases by using the technology, know-how, and practical solutions already at our disposal.

Tropical deforestation is the largest source of emissions for many developing countries, but slowing deforestation can’t solve the climate problem by itself. As forest-rich developing countries step up to take responsibility for reducing their emissions, all industrialized nations should not only support their efforts but, most importantly, reduce their own emissions and lead efforts to avert dangerous climate change.

For years we have heard so much about the causes of climate change, that we’ve missed the fact that there are simple, practical solutions that can slow this growing problem. Technologies exist today that can cut emissions of heat-trapping gases and make a real difference in the health of our planet. And these solutions will be good for our economy, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and enhance our energy security.

Global warming doesn’t just mean balmy February days in northern climes. It also means increasingly hot days in the summer, and a host of negative impacts that are already under way and are expected to intensify in the
coming decades.

-More heat waves will likely increase the risk of heat-related illnesses and deaths.

-Cities and towns along the nation’s major rivers will experience more severe and frequent flooding.

-Some areas will likely experience more extensive and prolonged droughts.

-Some of our favorite coastal and low-lying vacation areas, such as parts of the Florida Keys and Cape Cod, will be much less appealing as sea levels rise, dunes erode, and the areas become more vulnerable to coastal storms.

-Many families and businesses, who have made their living from fishing, farming, and tourism could lose their livelihoods, and others who love hunting, boating, skiing, birdwatching, and just relaxing near lakes, streams, and wetlands will see some of their favorite places irretrievably changed.

The solutions to climate change are here and it’s time we put them to use. If we get started today we can tackle this problem and decrease the unpleasant outcomes that await us if we do nothing. The steps we need to take are common sense. And, more often than not, they will save consumers money. The cost of inaction, however, is unacceptably high.

The scientific consensus is in. Our planet is warming, and we are helping make it happen by adding more heat-trapping gases, primarily carbon dioxide (CO2), to the atmosphere. The burning of fossil fuel (oil, coal, and natural gas) alone accounts for about 75 percent of annual CO2 emissions from human activities. Deforestation—the cutting and burning of forests that trap and store carbon—accounts for about another 20 percent.

Procrastination is not an option. Scientists agree that if we wait 10, 20, or 50 years, the problem will be much more difficult to address and the consequences for us will be that much more serious.

We’re treating our atmosphere like we once did our rivers. We used to dump waste thoughtlessly into our waterways, believing that they were infinite in their capacity to hold rubbish. But when entire fisheries were poisoned and rivers began to catch fire, we realized what a horrible mistake that was.

Our atmosphere has limits too. CO2 remains in the atmosphere for about 100 years. The longer we keep polluting, the longer it will take to recover and the more irreversible damage will be done.

Fuel-efficient vehicles. Renewable energy. Protecting threatened forests. These common sense solutions won’t only reduce global warming, many will save us money and create new business opportunities.

Best of all, these solutions exist now. We just need to insist that business and government take the necessary steps to make them available and affordable. Then we have to let consumers know what to do and provide incentives to help all of us make better choices.

The following five sensible steps are available today and can have an enormous impact on the problem CO2 remains in the atmosphere for about 100 years.

Asslamualaikum wr. wb.
 
The
honorable ones the principle of SMA Negeri 01 Tanjung, all teachers and
administration staff of SMA Negeri 01 Tanjung and all my friends from grade X
till Xii.
 
Before I
begin to give a speech, I would like to invite you to thank to Allah the
Almighty, Who has given us Mercy and Blessing, so we can meet together in this
blessing place. And also I don't forget to deliver sholawat and salam to our
prophet Muhammad SAW, Who has brought us from the darkness to the brightness,
so we are always in the right way.
 
Ladies and
gentlemen
 
It be a
great honour for me, to stand right here in front of you all to give a speech
about education under the title "What happen with our education?" in
this National Education Day or HARDIKNAS.
 
To begin
this speech, I would ask you two things about our education. What happen with
our education?  Is our education well enough or bad enough if we compere
with other country?
 
If you have
ever heard about the news last year about our international education rank, you
would be surprised. As quoted form Education for All (EFA) Global Monitoring
Report  2011 which is published by UNESCO and launched in New York on
Sunday, 1/3/2011,  our international education rank is at 69th place from
129 surveyed countries all over the world. This rank is lower than in 2010.
 
It opens a
question that runs in my head, what happen with our education? Indonesia is a
great country with many talented young generations. It was undoubted again that
there are so many Indonesian students who win the international education
Olympiads such as mathematics, chemical, physics and other. But why our
international education rank is still low. So what happen with with our
education? 
 
Our government
had made some policies which relate to the improvement of our educational
standard by improving the national examination (UN) standard which rise year by
year. Our government also made an effort to improve our educational standard by
improving the teachers' quality with a programme which well known as
"Sertifikasi". But why our education rank never change. So what
happen with our with education?

So what
happen with our education?
 
But sooner I
realize one thing. Our education rank actually depends on one thing, only one
thing. Our education rank depends on us. Good or bad the education of the
countries depend on their students. If we want to change our bad educational
paradigm, lets begin with change our perspective with the terms of education
itself by keep trying, keep studying, keep innovating, keep inventing for sake
of our education.
 
Not much that I can say to day, just
a few of words above that I can deliver to you at this moment, thank a lot for

Respectable audiences

All praise may be to Allah who has revealed His book, full with guidance and light, brings peace and safe to the mankind. Also, we are always given many comforts everyday so today we can be together in this special place and time without any obstacle. Hope that Kendal will be always in peace and to be prosperous city every time. Amen,,

May the blessing and peace be upon Allah’s prophet, Muhammad SAW, his companions and his faith follower till the end of the world, and we always hope his safe in future so that we can be his members of religious community who will be put in the heaven. Amen..

Then I do thanks to the MC for the chance given, so that I can deliver my little speech in this room.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am standing here representing organizing committee to say thank for all of your participation and attention, so that this event, Tambourine Festival for regency level that is participated by 60 elementary school in Kendal Area that will be competed each other to get the winner, can walk well. I just can say thanks very much for all of your attention.

Secondly, I also do thanks to the committees of this simple competition and all of units who help us to hold this competition, so this event can be done successfully. And not forget to the local government of Kendal Regency, I also do thanks very much for the permission given to us to hold this program and for the donation given to us. Therefore this agenda can be hold in the quad center of this town royally.

We cannot repay all of things you give to us, we only can pray you all to  Allah, hope that your beneficence will get back with the better things and heaven. Amen,,

Here, I will give you little explanation why this festival holds. Firstly, we know that Tambourine has been famous at the moment. We can see that almost in the schools, especially in elementary school, have their own tambourine group. Whereas some of them ever be champion in province level competition. It is a good performance to be develop. It means that all of tambourine groups from each school have a chance to be the winner, to be the champion, and to be the best in this competition. We hope by holding this program, all of tambourine groups in Kendal Area will be motivated to improve and develop their skill in Tambourine. Then later, they will be competent students, and they will be useful for our religion and our nation.

Besides, we as Muslim will meet with our great day in this year that is called Asyura day or the beginning of Islamic year 1434 H. We certainly remember who had created the Islamic date, he is Umar Ibn Khattab. This event is to remember his struggle in hundreds or thousands year ago, so that Islam has its own date and year which is an innovation of Islam period since the death of Rasulallah SAW. We must be proud of this development. Then  to remember and memorize that day, so we hold this tambourine competition in order to improve our believe and to be closer to Allah as The Creator.

I think that is all for me. There must be many mistakes in my speech, so please forgive me for all my mistakes. The last I say, thanks for your kind attention.
