PRESENTATION

How to Make Jawelry from Bottle

Water Bottle Jewelry

Materials:
  • Plastic water bottle bottoms
  • Scissors
  • Craft knife
  • Metal knitting needle (to help hold plastic while heating)
  • Paint (Krylon makes a spray paint for plastic or you can use acrylic paints by using a cosmetic sponge to apply acrylic paints to plastic – apply several coats)
  • Hole punch 1/8”
  • Jump rings
  • Buttons
  • Embroidery floss – each flower needs approx 6” to 8” to tie on button centers (Here’s a special designer hint from me to you: Apply a small amount of Aleene’s Tacky Glue to the ends of your embroidery floss. Let set several minutes and then thread through buttons. The glue helps to hold the ends of the floss together.)
  • Heat gun
  • Tile or heat resistant surface
  • Drill with 1/16” drill bit
  • Needle nose pliers
Instructions:
  1. Cut the petals into the sides of the bottom of the plastic water bottle. Photo shows bottoms before cutting on the bottom row and petals already cut on the top row in photo. Punch sides of two petals (opposite sides) with the hole punch for fastening jump rings later.

    Water Bottle Jewelry

  2. Place pre-cut and pre-punched flowers onto heat resistant surface. Hold the middle of the flower with knitting needle and heat carefully with heat gun.

    Water Bottle Jewelry

  3. The edges of the petals will curl up as you heat, so remove heat when you reach desired shape of petals.

    Water Bottle Jewelry

  4. Paint all flowers. Let paint dry. (Note that it is not necessary to paint both sides of the flowers because the color will show through the clear bottle. The painted side will tend to be more of a matte finish and the other side will be glossy.)

    Water Bottle Jewelry

  5. To create leaves, cut from sides of plastic water bottles. Paint in same manner as flowers. Drill hole on each end.

    Water Bottle Jewelry

  6. To make the bottle cap daisies, cut the cap using a craft knife. You will need to evenly space the cuts to create the petals.

    Water Bottle Jewelry

  7. Using a heat gun and holding with the metal knitting needle, carefully heat the pre-cut cap. You will have to help shape each flower.

    Water Bottle Jewelry

  8. Let the cap/flower cool slightly, then help to shape with fingers. If it cools too fast, reheat and repeat until all petals are laying flat.

    Water Bottle Jewelry

  9. Using scissors, carefully cut and round off each petal.

    Water Bottle Jewelry

  10. Drill holes into edges of opposite petals. Drill two holes in the middle.

    Water Bottle Jewelry

  11. Using 8” piece of embroidery floss, thread button onto each flower for flower centers. Tie floss in knot to hold button in place.

    Water Bottle Jewelry

  12. Using needle nose pliers, attach flowers together using large jump rings.

    Water Bottle Jewelry

  13. Assemble leaves and flowers with jump rings to desired length.

SMK 2013- Water Bottle Supply Organizer BY Ria Andriyani Kelas : XII RPL 1 Absent : 22

Water Bottle Supply Organizer
Here are some great ideas for crafts made from recycled items. Use these instructions to make a water bottle supply organizer, an easy way to organize your crafting supplies with water bottles and other recycled items!
Water Bottle Supply Organizer
Materials:
*1 - Plastic lazy susan – mine was 10” at the diameter
*1 – 13-1/2” disc cut from luan wood
*1 – Large coffee can
*9 – One liter plastic bottles (I used seltzer bottles)
*10- ¾” sheet metal screws
*20– ¾” nuts 20- ¾” washers
*Permanent marker
*Ruler
*White craft glue (I used Elmers Glue All, but Tacky Glue would be good as well)
* ½” Flat paint brush
*Glue stick
*Printed tissue paper – I used several patterns that I liked – or scrap booking paper
*Cheese Cloth
*Acrylic fabric paint (I used burnt umber)
*X-acto knife with sharp blade
*Sharp scissors
*Electric Drill
*Screwdriver
Instructions:
1. Remove the labels from coffee can and bottles.
2. Wash the can and bottles and allow to dry.
3. Mix some of the paint with enough water to make it the consistency of stain, about 2 parts paint to 3 parts water, and brush onto the best side of the luan wood and allow to dry. Two coats will be good. I used paint to stain the wood only because I don’t like the smell of stain.
4. Decide how tall you would like your bottles to be. I used several heights (6-1/2”, 5”, 4-1/2” and 2-1/2”) that worked well for storing paint brushes, pencils, pens and even a very short one for erasers, rubber bands, etc.
5. Set the bottles on a flat surface and, using a ruler, mark the height that you want each bottle to be. I made several marks, with a permanent marker, around each bottle and ‘connected the dots’ for easy cutting. No alterations will be made to the coffee can.
6. Use the X-acto knife to pierce the bottle and to make a slit above the line you drew, that you can use to start cutting with your scissors.
7. Cut along the line you drew to remove the top of the bottle and throw away the excess plastic.
8. Measure your chosen paper from the very bottom of the bottle to ½” above the cut edge. The extra half inch will be folded over and glued to the inside for a nice finished look. Add an extra ¼” or so to the width so the paper will overlap.
9. When you’ve cut your bottles to the desired size, and measured your paper to fit, coat them, one at a time, with a thick layer of white glue. I used Elmers, but I think Tacky Glue would be as good. Do the same with the coffee can.
10. Lay the paper that you’ve cut face down on a flat surface and position the bottle’s bottom edge at the edge of the paper and roll until the paper completely covers the bottles and can. Add a stripe of glue to the edge and press the extra ¼” of the width down to make a neat seam. Do the same with the coffee can.
11. Press the bottom of the paper into the little indentations around the bottom of the bottle.
12. When all of the bottles and the can are covered, allow them to dry completely.
13. When the bottles and the can are all dry, cut pieces of cheese cloth to fit each bottle, adding ½” to the top and bottom of the height. So the cheese cloth will be 1” longer than the paper that you cut.
14. Again coat the bottles with glue. You don’t need a very heavy coat this time, because cheese cloth won’t absorb the glue. Fold the bottom of the cheese cloth ½” (you may want to use a glue stick to keep the ½” fold in place) and, again, roll the bottle onto the cheese cloth and press in on the indentations at the bottom of each bottle. Glue the inside of the bottle ½” from the top and fold the top ½” of cheese cloth inside the bottle.
15. Cut cheese cloth 1” longer than the area between the top and bottom edges and about ¼” wider than needed for overlap. You won’t have to fold the top ½” over the top edge, but you will want to fold both the top and bottom edges of the cheese cloth to make a neat edge.
16. Allow the bottles and the can to dry completely. Find and mark the exact center of the lazy susan, the coffee can and the wooden disc. Drill through all 3 pieces at the center mark you made on each. Using a ¾” metal screw, and a washer, attach the 3 pieces, turn the project over and using a nut, tighten it down. Make sure the lazy susan still spins freely.
17. Position your bottles close to the outer edge of the wooden disc. Drill a hole through each bottle and another hole through the wooden disc where each bottle will be placed. Put a washer on each screw and insert it through the hole in the bottle and the hole in the disc. Turn the project over and with another washer and a nut, tighten each bottle.
18. When all of the bottles are attached, your supply spinner is ready to use.

SMK 2013- How to stop smoking (tips to succsed) BY Risah Sri pangestu

How to stop smoking (tips to succsed)

A lot of people want to know how to quit smoking. Advices and techniques can be found everywhere, but it is important to know that quitting is a matter of will. On the other hand, there are thousands of people who quit every day, and you can be one of them.
Maybe you are wondering how others can quit. The answer to the question is very simple, but the theory is simpler than practice. The statistics say that 95% from the people who try to quit would continue to smoke until the end of the first year. So it’s clear that you should have a very strong motivation and desire to quit.
If you want to grow the will and the motivation to succeed, you will have to learn the implications of quitting. Try to use the “cold turkey method” that means instant stop. The first milestone would be the first day. If you are able to stay without smoking for a whole day, you are on the good path. Three days is another important milestone, as the nicotine would start to be eliminated from the body. After two weeks, you won’t think about a cigarette every moment of the day, but the satisfaction of quitting would start to disappear.
This is a crucial moment, as many people smoke “one cigarette” after this period, just to see how it is. The little monster called nicotine spreads in the body, and there you are, a smoker again. You will have to remember that there is no such thing as “one cigarette”. You will have to educate your brain to think “non-smoking”, as the body would be easily used with the new situation this way. The best way is to shift the focus from smoking to some other activity. First of all, restrict the visiting of smoking places and hide all the stuff related to smoking. Than, find the activity that will substitute smoking, e.g. start 3-month fitness program with the goal to loose some weight or achieve some personal record. Once your brain is switched, you will find it a lot easier to live without cigarettes.
There are also a lot of supportive tips and tricks that can make easier your way to the non-smoker status. Do not forget to drink a lot of water, have something to keep your mouth and hands busy as well as help yourself with some medication or nicotine chewing gum.

Health, Safety and Environment

In line with our Group Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy Statement, NNPC is committed to conducting its activities in a manner that promotes the Health and Safety of its employees, assets and the public, as well as protection of the environment.
NNPC’s Group Health, Safety and Environment Department (GHSED) is mainly responsible for the administration of corporate matters on occupational Health, Safety and Environmental protection. The Department is also responsible for formulation of practical HSE policies and guidelines in line with industry best practice, facilitate timely and comprehensive compliance while maintaining effective service delivery for the protection of staff, assets and the environment. We conduct all HSE activities with utmost degree of competence in accordance with the profession and industry standards for the benefit of the Corporation and the Nation.
GHSE Department has steadily and rapidly evolved over the past few years with the restructuring and change of name in 2010 from ‘Environment and Safety’ and the upgrade of reporting line from Division to Directorate. The Group HSE policy statement signed by the GMD was also formally launched and deployed at all NNPC locations, and the corporate-wide HSE Management System was developed, is being deployed and implemented. The practice of world class HSE Safety Management Walkthrough and Walkabout methods of engaging Top Management Staff in safety compliance monitoring and enforcement likewise kick started. We recognize that the journey to excellence which we have now embarked upon has no final destination but requires that we constantly seek opportunities, stretch targets and redefine our strategies to ensure continuous improvement in our HSE performance.
In recognition of HSE improvement efforts and initiatives, NNPC received the International Award of 2012 for HSE Most Compliant Organization in Africa at a grand event in October 2012 at Accra, Ghana.
NNPC recognizes that the prosperity of any Organization is intricately linked to its Health and Safety performance and dependent upon responsible Environmental stewardship. At NNPC, the safety of our people, protection of our environment and assets are the main focus. We take proactive measures to prevent occurrence of avoidable emergencies and incidents but where they do happen, we respond timely, learn from the incident and improve our readiness to achieve total loss control. We ultimately aim to achieve “goal zero” with zero incidents, no-harm-to people and no-harm-to environment in all NNPC operations and facilities.
HSE fits strategically into NNPC’s mandate by working in the best way possible to balance and integrate all aspects of Environment and Safety considerations into all NNPC business objectives and decisions. We ensure strong HSE management and performance in Engineering designs, construction and technology selection, continuous development and training of staff. In this regard, we maintain an effective synergy with all our units for effective coordination and monitoring of all aspects of Safety and Environment in all projects and operations.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
NNPC is committed to providing and maintaining a safe, accident free and healthy work environment. Our comprehensive approach to fire and safety management is risk based through the conduct of risk assessments to guide all management’s decision making. We take necessary measures to institutionalize controls for all risks, minimize and mitigate the impact of our activities and also ensure all operations are carried out within the strictest safety standards. We focus on overall safety management through proactive inspections and monitoring, improved work processes, process safety and operational excellence initiatives, preventive maintenance, permit to work and fitness to work guidelines and a robust emergency preparedness regime.

ENVIRONMENT
The environment is a global village; the requirements to sustain the environment and tackle environmental challenges remain urgent and cannot be compromised. Protecting and preserving the environment is an important factor for business decision making and when we consider any new project or modification to existing operations. We constantly seek solutions to address environmental issues that affect our operations, and make efforts to see that new projects are developed in an environmentally compliant manner and that existing operations continue to reduce their environmental impact.
Climate change is of increasing global concern and has become a key sustainable development issue globally in the Oil and Gas industry. As a corporate responsible citizen, we play our role in tackling the global burden of climate change through our strategic approach focused on efficient use of energy and natural resources, biodiversity protection, reduction of atmospheric emission and reducing environmental impact through new and ongoing initiatives, awareness campaigns/programs and technologies.
In compliance with UNEP’s partnership for clean fuels and clean vehicles (PCFCV), NNPC in 2011 on the strength of its own resources, embarked on project for the residual Tetraethyl Lead (TEL) disposal, facility decommissioning, decontamination and remediation at all NNPC refineries (WRPC, KRPC and PHRC) to make for a Lead-free environment. This will earn Nigeria the UNEP certification of “Unleaded Gasoline Manufacturing Nation”.
NNPC is also active in promoting HSE awareness amongst staff through the circulation of monthly HSE themes and learning from incidents (LFI), celebration of World Environment Day (WED), Annual HSE Week and organizing other HSE campaigns and participatory activities for staff to keep them informed and updated on HSE matters.

POLLUTION CONTROL

Spillages of oil and products pollute the Environment, resulting in product and financial losses, reputational damage and sets people and assets at risk. To reduce the extent of damage whenever spills occur, we are apt in providing pollution control support and services to NNPC operational SBUs corporate-wide. GHSE coordinates the activities of six (6) zonal pollution control centres strategically located nationwide at Atlas Cove, Gombe, Kaduna, Mosimi, Port Harcourt and Warri.  The effectiveness of our oil spill preparedness and response is continually accessed and upgraded to maintain relevance and alignment to industry best practices.

NNPC-HSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
In continual demonstration of commitment to responsible HSE management practices in every aspect of our operations, NNPC recently developed, deployed and implemented a comprehensive HSE Management System (HSE-MS) corporate-wide, to modernize the culture and practice of HSE in the Corporation and to enable HSE risks to be mitigated and managed to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP). The NNPC HSE Management System which is in line with ISO 14001:2004/OHSAS 18001:2007 is living, evolving and auditable to help align NNPC HSE practices to international best standards and place NNPC at par and benchmark with similar world class companies.
The Management System (MS) has been adopted as a framework to guide HSE, support the business performance and drive continuous improvement across NNPC operations for a holistically improved overall business performance, sustainable development, sustained positive corporate image and assurance to all stakeholders of NNPC’s corporate social responsibility and sustainable development initiatives.
NNPC is committed to the highest Health and Safety standards in touching lives in many positive ways, by reinforcing commitment to pursuing HSE excellence in all our operations.
We work today to ensure sustainable future for the next generation.
